David J Keane

December 12, 1925 ~ October 12, 2018 (age 92)

David J. Keane, 92, retired Elizabeth Fire Captain, residing in Cape Coral, Florida, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018. He was born December 12, 1925 to David and Christine Keane. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria (Schadewald) Keane, five sisters:  Mary, Ellen, Katherine, Margaret, Ann; and 2 brothers: Thomas and John.

Mr. Keane left to enter the U.S. Navy in 1943 during WW II.  He served on 3 ships as a gunner in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard in the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Europe, North Africa and Egypt. David was discharged in 1946 and married Gloria Schadewald that same year. Mr. Keane entered the Elizabeth Fire Department in 1949 and retired as a Captain in 1981.

David belonged to numerous clubs: Manahawkin Elks and Cape Coral Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Cape Coral and Police and Fire Association of Cape Coral.  He was a life member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V.

He is survived by 4 loving children: Karen, David (Diane), Kevin (Debbie) and Bryan; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandson.

Visiting Thursday, 4:00PM - 8:00PM.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, October 19, 2018 10:00 am at the Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 E. St. Georges Avenue, Linden, N.J. 07036.  Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00AM.  Entombment St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum, Colonia.   

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project in David’s name.
